Module 1: Sentence Expansion & Fluency Building

1. Why Sentence Expansion?

At intermediate level, students must move from short basic sentences to clear, meaningful, and detailed sentences.

Sentence expansion helps learners:

Basic Sentence	Expanded Sentence
I study.	I study English every evening at home.
She works.	She works in a private office in the city.
They play.	They play cricket in the park after school.

Speaking Drill:
Take 5 short sentences and expand them orally.

We can expand sentences by adding:

Question	Example
When?	I study English in the morning.
Where?	I study English at home.
Why?	I study English to improve my confidence.
How?	I study English regularly.

Connectors help join ideas smoothly.

Connector	Use	Example
and	Add information	I study English and practice speaking daily.
because	Reason	I practice English because I want fluency.
so	Result	I practiced daily, so my English improved.
but	Contrast	I was tired, but I continued speaking.

Speaking Drill:
Speak 5 sentences using connectors.

Situation	Sentence
Routine	I wake up early and go for a walk every morning.
Study	I am learning English because it helps my career.
Office	I work in an office, but I study English in the evening.

Golden Rule: Fluency comes from flow, not perfection.

Expand the sentences:
