1. What Are Prepositions?

Prepositions are words that show the position, place, time, or direction of a noun or pronoun.

Examples: in, on, at, under, over, between, among

2. Prepositions of Place

Preposition Use Example
In Inside something The book is in the bag.
On On a surface The phone is on the table.
Under Below The cat is under the chair.
Over Above The fan is over my head.
Between In the middle of two The shop is between two houses.
Among More than two He is among friends.

3. Prepositions of Time (In / On / At)

Preposition Used For Example
In Months, years, long periods In January, in 2026
On Days & dates On Monday, on 15th August
At Exact time At 7 am, at night
Tip: Remember – In = long, On = day, At = exact

Home The keys are in the drawer.
School My exam is on Monday.
Evening We play cricket in the evening.
